Unfortunately, the prosperity of the Bulow Plantation came to an abrupt end during the Second Seminole War. In 1836, Seminole warriors attacked and burned down the plantation as part of their resistance against American encroachment on their lands. The ruins that remain today are a testament to this turbulent period in Florida's history.
