Kluane National Park and Reserve is one of Canada’s most spectacular natural wonders. Located in the Yukon, it was established in 1972. Spanning an area of 22,013 square kilometers, it encompasses the headwaters of the Alberta, Alaska and Kluane Rivers, and is home to impressive mountain ranges and a variety of glaciers, icefields and rivers.
Mount Logan, at an elevation of 5959m, is the highest peak in Canada and the second highest in North America. Kluane National Park and Reserve is also home to the immense Kaskawulsh Glacier and Kaskawulsh Icefields which are the largest in the Kluane Lake region, covering an area of more than 18,000 square kilometers. It is also home to some of the richest variety of plants and animals in Canada, as well as some of the continent’s most beautiful alpine scenery and cultural sites.
