Magura National Park in Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland - map and visitor information

Research checked: . Check linked official notices before travel.

Magura National Park protects a forested part of the Low Beskids across Poland’s Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian voivodeships. Marked routes, viewpoints, and the park museum in Krempna offer different ways to explore it. Choose your walking area first: the headquarters is a useful information base, but several trail approaches lie in other villages.

Forested hills and park interpretation

  • Ferdel: the park lists a viewing tower here, providing a specific walking objective rather than an unnamed forest circuit.
  • Wysokie: a viewing platform offers another destination within the park’s visitor network.
  • Krempna museum: a nature presentation and interactive displays explain the landscape before or after a walk.

Prepare for the conditions under the trees

Wind, storms, and heavy snow on branches can make forest travel dangerous. Winter does not turn these trails into maintained walking surfaces. Check the park notices and weather before leaving the village. Choose a shorter route when conditions or the group’s experience make a longer crossing impractical.

Keep the forest quiet

Stay on marked walking trails and nature paths. Take away litter and food remains; the park does not provide trail-side trash bins. Pet dogs are prohibited, with a separate exception for qualifying assistance dogs. Do not camp in the park or fly a drone. Fires and smoking are restricted to officially designated places.

Groups and special activities

Buy admission online or through the park’s listed sales points. Organized walking groups require a qualified Beskid guide for the Low Beskids and must not exceed 50 people. Educational, tourist, recreational, and sports events require the director’s agreement. Check the visitor regulations before arranging a group program.

Use a named village approach

Krempna is the headquarters and museum base. Other designated parking locations include Folusz, the Kiczera nature path, and the Rostajne–Nieznajowa route. The official parking and viewpoint page helps match an arrival point to a walking plan. Park only in designated places; an administrative address does not identify the start of every route.

Nearby landscape parks

  • Jaśliski Park Krajobrazowy: the Dukla and Jaśliska side of the Low Beskids provides a separate road-based outing east of the Krempna area.
  • Czarnorzecko-Strzyżowski Park Krajobrazowy: look toward the Czarnorzeki and Korczyna foothills north of Krosno for another protected-area visit.

Walk with a clear destination

Select a marked route to a viewpoint or a nature path that fits your available daylight. The park’s route inventory includes longer crossings such as Folusz–Konieczna and Krempna–Bartne; these names should not be read as short return walks. Plan how you will get back before starting a point-to-point route.

The education and museum center

The Jan Szafrański education and museum center at Krempna 59 includes a roughly half-hour nature presentation and interactive exhibits. It provides an indoor alternative when a forest hike is unsuitable. Ask the center about particular mobility or group requirements before traveling.

From designation to operation

The government adopted the regulation creating Magurski Park Narodowy on November 24, 1994. The park began operating on January 1, 1995. Its headquarters moved to Krempna in 1997, and the museum later added an educational base there.

Forest mammals

The park records wolves, lynx, wildcats, and brown bears among its mammals. Their presence is a conservation fact, not a promise of a sighting. Quiet travel and respect for the marked paths reduce disturbance to the habitats around you.
