Mesa Verde National Park is a National Park located in Montezuma County, Colorado, United States. This park was established to protect and preserve the cultural history of the Ancestral Pueblo people who lived and farmed in the area between 600-1300AD. These ancient Pueblo people and their history is embedded in the landscape of the national park to this day.
Mesa Verde, which translates to “Green Table” in Spanish, lies in a unique location atop a flat-topped mesa. At 8,572, it is one of the highest mesas in the world, with majestic views of the rolling landscape of the San Juan Mountains to the east and the La Plata Mountains to the south.
