Camp Plymouth State Park in Vermont offers a seasonal lake outing and group stays. Its day-use season ends before the cottage and group-camping season. Choose your dates around the service you need, and arrange overnight accommodation through the park.

Choose a group base by the water

The park has six lean-to sites for group camping and four furnished cottages near the water. Each cottage sleeps up to six people.

Plan within the operating season

Stay away from abandoned mines, which can be dangerous. Most lie outside the park boundary. Hand panning does not require entering a mine.

Keep pets off the beach

Pets must be leashed and stay in grassy areas. They are prohibited on the beach and sand. Pet swimming is allowed only at the car-top boat launch. Clean up after pets.

Arrange the right kind of stay

Cottages require at least three nights before June 15 or after Labor Day. From June 15 through Labor Day, the minimum is seven nights, Saturday–Saturday. Stays cannot exceed seven nights. A USD 100 cleaning deposit applies. Cottages prohibit pets, smoking and tents, and allow two vehicles. Read the cottage policies and confirm dates with the park.

Historic parks for a regional road trip

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park is in Woodstock, with parking at Billings Farm & Museum off Route 12. Its visitor center season ends October 31. Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park is at 139 Saint Gaudens Road in Cornish, New Hampshire, reached from NH 12A. Large RVs and buses cannot use the Cornish–Windsor covered bridge. Use the Ascutney crossing for those vehicles.

Pan by hand

Recreational gold panning uses hands only. Mechanical sluices and commercial mining are prohibited.

Cottages and group lean-tos

A beach mat provides access to the water. A beach wheelchair is available at no charge, by advance reservation or first-come availability. Call before traveling specifically for this equipment.

A Vermont state park

Vermont State Parks manages Camp Plymouth. The property transferred to Vermont in 1984 with help from the Ottauquechee Land Trust. The state park opened in 1989.
