Established in 1961, Haleakalā National Park is a pristine nature reserve located in the state of Hawaii. The park encompasses 33,265 acres of land, encompassing much of the Haleakalā volcano and surrounding areas. In 1980, the park was officially designated as a U.S. Biosphere Reserve.
