Parc national de la Pointe-Taillon combines sandy shores, a peat bog and cycling routes on the north side of Lac Saint-Jean in Québec. Your entrance depends on the sector and campsite. Some overnight areas require a bicycle, a walk or a boat transfer, while Camp-de-Touage has road-accessible camping.

Lake conditions and island transfers

Wind can change a lake outing or shuttle schedule. Bring extra food for an island stay in case weather delays the return trip. Choose water activities for the conditions and your experience, and supervise children around the shore.

Protect the bog and shoreline

Remain on designated routes through the wetlands. Do not collect plants or disturb wildlife. Dogs are allowed only in specified places, including selected Camp-de-Touage campsites. Check the approved locations before booking with a dog.

Select the campsite and transport together

The official camping and activity page distinguishes road, cycling and water access. Reserve the chosen accommodation and confirm any island shuttle separately. Book island sites through the stated telephone service. Daily park access is additional to lodging under the Sépaq fee policy.

Three mainland sector addresses

Pointe-Taillon reception is at 835 Rang 3 Ouest in Saint-Henri-de-Taillon. Les-Amicaux is at 95 Chemin Belley in the same municipality. Camp-de-Touage-Les-Îles is at 450 Chemin du Golf in Saint-Gédéon. These are separate arrivals; confirm the correct one for your reservation.

Alma has public transit, but there is no public transit link from Alma to Saint-Henri-de-Taillon. Péribonka has a seasonal ferry connection to selected park areas. Check its actual operating schedule when planning a boat-based arrival.

Regional parks toward Saguenay

Parc national des Monts-Valin is reached from the Saint-Fulgence area by Rang Saint-Louis. Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay offers separate road sectors, including Baie-Éternité at Rivière-Éternité. Both are regional onward drives; choose the sector and check seasonal vehicle access before setting out.

Walk or ride across the peninsula

The shared network follows the lake and Rivière Péribonka and crosses peatland. Choose a shorter return outing or a longer ride from the route map. Seasonal rentals include bicycles and watercraft. A beach visit can be combined with an easy land-based outing without arranging an island overnight stay.

Mainland services and rustic islands

Camp-de-Touage offers developed campsites and an RV area reached by car. Island sites are rustic, with dry toilets, picnic tables and fire pits. They are reached by sea kayak or an arranged shuttle, so an island reservation does not provide vehicle access.

Accessible parking, washrooms, a snack bar and terrace are listed in the main sector. Specialized summer mobility equipment can be borrowed subject to availability and the listed CAL-card conditions. Confirm the particular equipment and service season with staff.

About Pointe-Taillon

A former farming landscape

Farm families once lived on the peninsula. Raising Lac Saint-Jean's water level in the 1920s displaced that community, and later reforestation changed the landscape again. The conservation park was created in 1985.

Bog, beaver and migrating birds

The peat bog retains water among forest, marsh and shoreline habitats. Beaver activity is visible in lodges and cut trees. Canada geese and snow geese pass through during migration, and sandhill cranes use the area in spring. Watch from designated routes without approaching nesting or feeding birds.
