Safety information

The river can have strong currents and submerged obstacles. The park brochure advises wearing a life jacket and swimming with a companion. Keep children within close supervision around the water.

Visit responsibly

Keep pets physically restrained, with a leash no longer than six feet. Remove pet waste. Observe campground quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Buy firewood locally or use certified heat-treated wood. Generators are prohibited.

Reservations and permits

Campsites, cabins, and group picnic areas accept reservations. The operator allows bookings up to six months ahead. Check individual parking-pad dimensions rather than assuming every site fits the same RV. One cabin is pet-friendly.

About this park

History

The first state park land was transferred from the State Board of Forestry in 1958. Its earlier purchase helped protect native myrtle trees along the Chetco River.
