About the memorial park

The Babler family and CCC

Jacob and Henry Babler donated land in 1934 in memory of their brother Edmund, a St. Louis surgeon. CCC crews developed roads, trails, shelters, and stone structures. A bronze statue of Edmund was unveiled at the park's 1938 dedication.

Forest and creek habitats

Oak, sugar maple, walnut, and flowering dogwood help define the woods. Bonhomme and Wild Horse creeks support fish including orange-throated darters and logperch. Observe creek life without disturbing the water or banks.
