Narew National Park in Podlaskie Voivodeship, Poland - map and visitor information

Research checked: . Check linked official notices before travel.

Narew National Park protects a network of river channels and wetlands west of Białystok in Poland’s Podlaskie Voivodeship. Kurowo is a useful starting area for its visitor information and nature exhibition. Check the route notices first: the Waniewo–Śliwno crossing and the park’s kayak rental are currently closed.

Highlights

  • Multi-channel river: the Narew divides and reconnects through a peat-filled valley.
  • Młynarzówka exhibition: the nature education center offers an indoor introduction to the park.
  • Kurowo grounds and old bridge approaches: the park lists these for walking, offering alternatives to routes affected by major boardwalk works.

Fees, hours, and seasonal access

TopicDetails
Park admissionEntrance tickets apply throughout the year. The park-linked ticket provider lists standard one-day admission at PLN 8 per person and eligible reduced admission at PLN 4; standard three-day admission is PLN 20. Confirm the current product and rate before purchase. Admission covers the designated routes and viewing facilities, subject to closures.
Nature exhibitionStandard admission to Młynarzówka is PLN 12 per person. It is a separate exhibition ticket. From October 1 to April 14, listed last-entry times are Monday 12:00–14:00 and Tuesday–Friday 9:00–14:00. Confirm holiday and seasonal arrangements.
Current restrictionsThe Waniewo–Śliwno boardwalk is closed. The park’s kayak rental is closed because water levels are too low. The Kurowo Kładka wśród bagien boardwalk is being modernized, with completion planned for December 2027.

Safety information

Do not use a closed crossing or damaged boardwalk structure. Wet boards can be slippery. Follow barriers and the park’s current visitor notices rather than an older description of an available route. Low water also changes the practicality of paddling routes.

Visit responsibly

Keep to the routes and visitor areas made available by the park. A map of the wetland channels is not permission to enter every channel or shoreline. Around boardwalks, remain inside the protective railings and do not climb on them. Follow the rules for the specific activity and leave wildlife undisturbed. Motorboats are prohibited. Fires and camping are allowed only in designated places.

Reservations and permits

Buy the appropriate admission product through the park’s ticket channels or visitor information. Arrange group education, camping and fishing requirements separately with the park. Do not assume that buying water-route admission restores the currently closed kayak-rental service.

Maps, location, and access

The park covers the Narew valley between Suraż and Rzędziany, west of Białystok. Its office is at Kurowo 10. The official driving directions distinguish the Młynarzówka education center at the end of the asphalt road from the headquarters farther along the gravel road. Choose the facility you intend to visit before setting navigation.

Nearby parks and protected areas

  • Biebrza National Park: Osowiec-Twierdza is a separate road-accessible base north of the Narew visitor area.
  • Park Krajobrazowy Puszczy Knyszyńskiej: travel toward the Supraśl forest area east of Białystok for another protected landscape.

Things to do

The park’s walking information lists the manor grounds in Kurowo and the old bridge embankment approaches from Kurowo and Kruszewo. Visit the nature exhibition for an introduction lasting about an hour. Published kayak loops around Kurowo are water-dependent: the longer loop includes upstream travel and can become difficult when vegetation and low water obstruct channels. Confirm conditions before arranging a future trip.

Facilities and accessibility

Młynarzówka provides visitor information, maps, park publications and ticket sales. The Kurowo camping place has showers, shelters with electrical outlets and Wi-Fi; overnight stays and vehicle access have separate charges. Ordinary cars may enter only to unload, then must use the hardened parking outside. These camping services should not be confused with public access along the closed marsh boardwalk.

About the park

History

Narwiański Park Narodowy was established on July 1, 1996. River-valley life also shaped the surrounding cultural landscape. The authority describes communal haymaking on wet meadows, with boats sometimes carrying hay when access by land was impossible.

Wildlife and habitats

Peat, reeds and water channels form the habitat network protected here. The park’s emblem is a marsh harrier, and official government information also records aquatic warblers and ruffs. Observe birds from permitted routes; sensitive habitat does not justify leaving the visitor network.
