Parc national du Bic protects a section of the St. Lawrence Estuary near Rimouski, Québec. Sépaq operates this Québec national park. Choose a coastal walk, a viewpoint hike, or a camping stay, but plan shore routes around the tide. A beach exposed at low water is not a dependable all-day route.

Treat coastal routes as tide-dependent hikes

Le Grand-Tour and Le Tour du Cap-à-l’Orignal include undeveloped coastal stretches with no trail markers. Sharp or slippery rocks and steep sections make them demanding walks. They are not recommended for young children or rainy weather, and they close in winter.

Use the official coastal-route instructions to match your departure to low tide. Follow the indicated direction of travel. Choose an inland route when the tide prevents a coastal circuit.

Give seals and shore habitats space

Observe animals from a distance. Keep to designated routes and leave natural objects in place. Dogs are restricted to authorized areas; check your selected trail or campsite before bringing one. Recreational drones are prohibited.

Book the stay and check activity arrangements

Arrange camping or roofed accommodation through Sépaq. Confirm the sector and its seasonal services before booking. Guided sea-kayak trips use a separate partner booking. A park access authorization does not reserve an activity or ensure space in a full parking lot.

Choose the correct entrance from Route 132

Park entrances lie between Saint-Fabien and Rimouski's Le Bic district. Use Rivière-du-Sud-Ouest for the main entrance and camping arrival. The Cap-à-l’Orignal entrance does not provide campground access. The official access and service guide includes sector maps and current schedules.

Other parks on a regional road trip

Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata lies inland, with separate entrances around Squatec, Saint-Juste-du-Lac, and Dégelis. République Provincial Park is farther south in Edmundston, New Brunswick. These are separate road-trip stops; select the actual entrance rather than routing to a general lake or park label.

Combine a viewpoint with a shore visit

Les Murailles follows a rocky ridge from Raoul-Roy toward Pic Champlain. The described route is 7.8 km round trip, with the viewpoint 3.9 km from the start. Choose a shorter outing if that distance does not fit your day.

Other options include cycling and seasonal snow activities. Guided sea kayaking explores the estuary with a partner operator. Independent boat use has launch and marine-zone restrictions; consult the navigation guidance before bringing your own craft. The park does not offer boat rental.

Visitor centers and assistance

Rivière-du-Sud-Ouest provides information, washrooms, a small store, and seasonal rentals. Ferme-Rioux offers visitor services when open. Adapted outdoor equipment is available under specific conditions and subject to availability; ask about the route, collection point, and season before relying on it.

A protected estuary landscape

Québec created the park in 1984 to conserve the southern shore of the St. Lawrence Estuary. Archaeological evidence records Indigenous use long before European settlement. Farms and former holiday properties also shaped the landscape visitors see today.

Seals, eiders, and migrating raptors

Harbor and gray seals rest on coastal rocks and reefs. Common eiders use the shore, and migrating birds of prey pass the high ridges in spring. Watch from established observation areas without trying to draw animals closer.
