Roztocze National Park in Lublin Voivodeship, Poland - map and visitor information

Research checked: . Check linked official notices before travel.

Roztocze National Park protects wooded hills around Zwierzyniec in eastern Poland. Roztoczański Park Narodowy combines forest walks, the Echo Ponds, and a cycling route toward Florianka. Start with the route rather than a park-wide ticket: charges apply to specific paths and attractions, while current repairs affect several visitor stops.

Forest slopes, ponds, and Florianka

  • Bukowa Góra: a forest path climbs through pine, fir, and beech habitats to a viewpoint before continuing to Sochy.
  • Echo Ponds: paths, a viewing platform, and a protected dune edge offer a different setting close to Zwierzyniec.
  • Florianka: the cycle route reaches a historic forest settlement and the park's conservation-breeding landscape.

TopicDetails
Paid park routesA one-day entry card costs PLN 8 standard or PLN 4 reduced, including VAT. One card covers Bukowa Góra and the chargeable Rybakówka–Florianka–Górecko Stare section of the cycle route. Other nature paths are free.
Tourist informationThe point at ul. Plażowa 3a opens daily April–October, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with ticket sales until 4 p.m. In November–March, the point inside the museum building at ul. Plażowa 3 operates weekdays, 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m.
Temporary restrictionsThe Biała Góra tower and Czarny Staw pier are closed until further notice. The museum's upstairs permanent exhibition closes October 27–November 6, 2026, for modernization; ground-floor displays remain available. Check current park notices before finalizing an indoor or viewpoint stop.
Echo Ponds seasonThe ponds are normally filled in early spring and drained around late October–early November. The bathing area operates seasonally. Confirm its operating period before planning a swim.

Choose a walk that matches the terrain

Bukowa Góra has a steep stair climb and about 80 m of elevation change. The park advises against using it in strong, gusty winds because branches may fall. Its published 2.6 km route ends in Sochy; allow for the separate return to Zwierzyniec instead of treating the distance as a loop.

Keep to the routes and protected pond edges

Use designated paths and leave plants and animals undisturbed. Dogs are prohibited under the park rules, except qualifying assistance dogs. Stay outside fenced dune-restoration areas at Echo Ponds. The bathing area does not make the entire pond complex available for water sports.

Tickets and booked visits serve different purposes

Buy the appropriate route card before entering a paid section. The tourist information point sells admission cards and handles group bookings for museum exhibitions. Arrange a museum time separately from an outdoor walk, and check the temporary exhibition closure first. Educational activities and organized uses can require advance agreement under the park's current access rules.

Begin in Zwierzyniec

The Education and Museum Center on ul. Plażowa sits beside historic Zwierzyniec and is the starting point for several paths and the Florianka cycle route. Headquarters at ul. Plażowa 2 is a separate office address. Use the tourist information points to obtain maps and choose the correct start for your route.

Other protected areas in Roztocze

Szczebrzeszyński Park Krajobrazowy extends toward Szczebrzeszyn and western Roztocze, accessible by the local roads from Zwierzyniec. Krasnobrodzki Park Krajobrazowy includes Krasnobród and the neighboring central Roztocze landscape, reached by a separate road trip from the national park.

Choose a climb, a pond walk, or a cycle trip

Take the Bukowa Góra path for a more demanding forest walk with a defined climb and viewpoint. Around Echo Ponds, use the built paths and viewing platform rather than cutting across the dune. Swimming belongs to the designated seasonal bathing area and its posted conditions.

The route from the museum through Florianka to Górecko Stare is 11 km. It includes sandy and uneven sections and crosses a railway. Plan the return as well as the outward ride. The closed Czarny Staw pier is a stop restriction, not evidence that the whole cycling route is closed.

Visitor information and accessible pond infrastructure

The museum and tourist information points provide exhibitions, maps, and ticket services. Echo Ponds has an unguarded parking lot, charged April–October, and a paid toilet. The authority describes a hardened approach, ramps, and a viewing platform designed for visitors with mobility disabilities. Those features do not make the steep Bukowa Góra walk step-free.

Forest conservation in the Roztocze hills

Protection developed from an older estate landscape

Roztocze National Park was established in 1974. Conservation efforts associated with the Zamoyski estate preceded it, including the Bukowa Góra reserve created in 1934. The present park protects forest systems within a region that also has a long history of settlement and land use.

Forest habitats and conservation breeding

Beech and fir are important elements of the park's forests. Konik Polski horses form part of a managed conservation-breeding program; the stable-based program at Florianka began in 1995. They should not be confused with an unrestricted wild-horse attraction. Forest and pond habitats support a wider range of wildlife, which visitors should observe from the permitted routes.
