Wielkopolski National Park in Greater Poland Voivodeship, Poland - map and visitor information

Research checked: . Check linked official notices before travel.

Wielkopolski National Park preserves a landscape of wooded hills, glacial lakes, and ridges south of Poznań. Wielkopolski Park Narodowy has free outdoor entry, but parking and the nature museum have separate charges. Start by choosing a trailhead: Jeziory serves the museum and park administration, while Osowa Góra and Szreniawa provide different walking options.

Read the glacial landscape on foot

  • Lake Góreckie: marked routes and a viewing platform reveal a lake basin shaped by glacial processes, with views toward the castle ruins on Zamkowa Island.
  • Na tropach lądolodu: this education route connects Osowa Góra with the southern shore of Lake Góreckie. Its 5 km length is one way.
  • Wokół Starej Wieży: a shorter 1.2 km loop at Szreniawa introduces forest ecosystems and glacial landforms.
  • Nature museum in Jeziory: an indoor option with separate admission and a limited opening schedule.

Temporary restrictionsCheck the park notices and closure map before choosing a route. A parking payment does not authorize night access to the park.

Allow time for the return and changing surfaces

Use a route map rather than treating an education-path length as the total outing. The park gives about three hours for the 5 km Na tropach lądolodu route in one direction. Add time for the return or arrange a verified onward route. Follow closures and barriers instead of taking a shortcut through protected woodland or a lake margin.

Stay on the appropriate marked routes

Walking, cycling, and horse riding use designated routes. Keep dogs leashed and muzzled under the published park rules. Do not collect plants or mushrooms, feed wildlife, or light fires outside designated places. Water activities and camping are restricted to designated areas; a lakeside trail does not give permission to launch a boat. Read the visitor regulations before planning those activities.

Arrange museum guiding and organized activities

Guided museum visits are offered for groups of 10–25. The guide fee is PLN 60 per group, in addition to individual admission. Request a visit at least 14 days ahead; contact staff if a shorter arrangement is needed. Organized events require the director's permission. Ordinary parking and museum tickets do not provide that permission.

Choose Jeziory, Osowa Góra, or Szreniawa

The park is in Greater Poland Voivodeship, near Mosina and Puszczykowo. The museum and administration are at Jeziory 1, approached from the Komorniki–Jeziory–Puszczykowo county road. A rail option uses Puszczykówko station on the Poznań–Wrocław line, then a walking approach toward Jeziory. Plan the onward walk with the official arrival information and a trail map.

Nearby landscape parks

Rogaliński Park Krajobrazowy is a nearby choice toward Rogalinek and Rogalin in the Warta valley. Park Krajobrazowy im. gen. Dezyderego Chłapowskiego lies toward Czempiń and the Kościan area. Both offer separate destinations through nearby towns by road; select one according to your starting point in the national park.

Choose a short loop or a longer geology walk

At Szreniawa, Wokół Starej Wieży provides a compact loop with an estimated walking time of about one hour. Its interpretation covers forest edges, dead wood, and a hill deposited during the retreat of the ice sheet. The historic Bierbaum tower belongs to the agricultural museum in Szreniawa; contact that museum separately about entering it.

Na tropach lądolodu offers a longer study of the glacial terrain, including transported boulders and lake basins. Its endpoint platform looks toward the island castle ruins. This is a shoreline viewpoint, not an instruction to land on the island. The education-path descriptions give the individual starts, finishes, and lengths.

Use the museum schedule and named parking areas

The museum occupies the administration building in Jeziory. The authority describes accessible parking spaces and a ramp at this site. Ask staff about the route from your chosen parking space and any assistance needed; these features do not establish that every forest trail is step-free. Paid parking areas use different payment arrangements, including app-based payment at some sites. Check the instructions for the specific lot.

A national park shaped by ice

National park status since 1957

The park was established in 1957. Its museum tradition predates that designation: the earlier museum in Puszczykowo opened in 1952, while the collection moved into its Jeziory setting in 1998. The present visit combines outdoor landscape interpretation with a separate museum collection.

Lakes, old trees, and wetlands support different species

Tawny owls are closely associated with the park, while cranes use Trzcielińskie Bagno for shelter and other stages of their annual cycle. Old deciduous trees and dead wood support woodpeckers and many invertebrates. Protected amphibians include the great crested newt and European fire-bellied toad. Look from the routes and leave fallen wood and small water bodies undisturbed.
