Wolin National Park in West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland - map and visitor information

Research checked: . Check linked official notices before travel.

Wolin National Park protects part of Wolin island on Poland’s Baltic coast. Cliff viewpoints, beech forest and the Świna delta give its visitor areas different characters. Międzyzdroje provides access to several marked routes, while Wapnica and Lubin serve viewpoints farther south. Park admission, parking and individual attractions are separate planning items.

Highlights

  • Gosań: a coastal viewpoint reached from the road between Międzyzdroje and Kołobrzeg.
  • Kawcza Góra: a forest approach from the eastern end of Międzyzdroje’s promenade leads to a sea view.
  • Bison display enclosure: view managed European bison on a visit separate from wildlife watching in the forest.

Safety information

Stay on the designated viewpoint approaches and obey barriers. Do not wander from marked trails. Before a coastal or forest outing, consult the park’s weather and visitor information; conditions can change the suitability of an exposed route. Use only designated parking places.

Visit responsibly

Keep noise down, leave plants and natural material undisturbed, and do not approach or harass animals. The park’s visitor rules prohibit ordinary dog walks within the park. Do not use open fires. Water sports and fishing belong only on waters specifically made available for those activities.

Reservations and permits

Choose the correct park, attraction or parking product in the official ticket service. Arrange guided visits and educational services separately with the park. A parking payment does not establish permission to use every attraction or water area.

Maps, location, and access

The park lies in West Pomeranian Voivodeship on Wolin island. The official entrance list identifies routes from Międzyzdroje, Wisełka, Warnowo, Wapnica and Lubin. For Gosań, the viewpoint approach starts beside road 102; for Lake Turkusowe, use the signed Wapnica visitor area. The current office address is Grodno 1, not a universal trailhead.

Nearby parks and protected areas

  • Karsiborska Kępa: OTOP’s reserve is approached by road through Karsibór, following the local Ostoja Ptaków signs.
  • Karsiborskie Paprocie nature reserve: the neighboring educational path on Uznam is reached from Świnoujście via Karsiborska Street. Car or coach groups should arrange their visit with the forest district first.

Things to do

The viewpoint guide gives a roughly 300 m forest approach to Gosań from road 102 and a 700 m approach to Kawcza Góra from the eastern promenade. Around Wapnica, the blue route links the Lake Turkusowe area with Piaskowa Góra; Wzgórze Zielonka is near Lubin. Select the start point that matches the viewpoint rather than expecting a single park entrance.

Facilities and accessibility

The bison enclosure is on the green trail, about 1.5 km on foot from central Międzyzdroje, and has viewing platforms behind the fence. The Nature Museum interprets the park’s habitats, geology and regional culture, and sells maps and publications. Entrance information boards also provide route and conduct information. Check facility-specific access needs directly before traveling.

About the park

History

The park was established in 1960. Its 1996 expansion added coastal Baltic waters and islands and waters in the Świna delta, broadening protection beyond the original land area.

Wildlife and habitats

Beech forests, coastal waters and wetland habitats support a varied fauna. Wolin lies on a coastal bird-migration route, and the park records white-tailed eagles and other wetland birds. The display enclosure is a managed bison setting; do not interpret it as evidence that a forest walk guarantees a bison encounter.
