About Ulittaniujalik

Inuit and Naskapi river routes

The park was created in 2016. The George and Ford river systems have long connected inland travel and harvesting areas. The Naskapi Nation also identifies this territory as culturally significant. Later outfitting operations added another layer to the river's history.

Northern river and valley habitats

Caribou and black bears occur in the park. The George River and regional lakes support fish including Atlantic salmon and Arctic char. Shrubs, mosses and lichens cover much of the landscape, with more wooded habitat in the valleys. Observe animals without following them or disturbing their habitat.
